A very close game with both sides going fully at it. Knowbody could break either of the oppositions defence until Raul scored a lovely low shot against Bologna to put Villarreal 1-0 up. Heskey heads in the first goal for Bologna from a corner. Another corner and Heskey headers it towards the Villarreal net but the Villarreal keeper was forced to make a lovely save but parried it straight to Heskey and Heskey kicks the ball in to the open net.
The game didn't really see many scoring opurtunities until the last 12 minutes where 3 goals were scored.

Good game mate, a harsh ending lol.

First half I got battered and then second half Bologna switched into 6th gear and came back from 2-0 down and made it 2-1 and was so close to scoring last second the ball it 1 post and then rolled 2 the other and stayed on the line! lol

Another close game, I had a penalty with Owen and hit crossbar! Also Heskey hit the crossbar twice and hit the post once. A very close game but I don't know how I didn't score moe lol.

Heskey and Owen, two a piece. Owen scored both goals by rebound although his second rebound Owen had forced it so it's all good Heskey scored two low shots for a change!

Well, what a game!!

6 goals split evenly! Breathtaking moments!

The game started brightly with end to end stuff, both sides creating openings exploring flaws in the oppositions team. Seemingly, it was Recreativo who drew first blood, exploiting Sampdoria's attacking mentality that has cost them little so far this season. After being caught with too many players up front Cisse broke away leaving the back four on the horizon, then squaring a beautiful ball for nihat to tap in.

After this, Sampdoria found their feet, playing lovely passing football that would woo even the top teams in the world, a neat pass found Marlbranque, who, had the vision and precision to plant a slicing through ball to Mata to stroke it into the net just before the half was up.

Sampdoria's new manager new he had something to do, and at the half interval, he replaced the influential Marlbranque with De Ascentis and also withdrew fan favourite Aliadere for Vaughan.

Chants of 'You dont know what your doin!' Rang around the stadium! However, it didnt take long for it all to click into place and show the fans who's boss, and not for the first time this season!

A lovely combination between Vaughan, De Ascentis and Mata resulted in Perotta finding a gap, and, despite a slight clip on the way through, he maintained his balance to cooly send Castelazzi the wrong way! (52')

The crowd soon shut up! After neat football by both sides, it was Vaughan who found himself in space on the edge of the area, an attempted pass to Baines resulted in a foul and a free kick. Up stepped Baines himself, eyeing up a free kick from 30+ yards away, and in an almost impossible angle. GOAL! A thunderbolt of a freekick left Castellazzi with absolutely no chance, and Baines reeled away in delight! (79')

This sparked a frantic 10 minutes of football with both sides going close to adding another!

It was, however, Sampdoria's willingness to commit men forward, again their downfall, and not once, but twice. Two fantastic breakaways within 5mins with Cisse left Mirante having to come out of goal, and Cisse exquisitly finished both chances! He may have even whispered a word of thanks to the keeper as he celebrated!

Extra time beckoned, and as boo's from the Sampdoria fans rang out, they were almost instantly silenced after the kick off. De Ascentis broke down the right, before his deflected cross bounced just behind Osman, whose deft little flick over the head left his marker stranded, and he volleyed inches over!

Meanwhile, down at the other end Cisse curled a shot just wide of the upright. Penalties drew even closer. A quiet secont half of extra time ensured penalties were what we got.

Vaughan Osman Perrotta and De Ascentis all netted whilst Mata missed
Whereas it was only Nihat and Huddlestone who could score their penalties leaving the hard working Recreativo Squad Heartbroken!


New Manager held up a finger of silence to the home fans, maybe, to signal that he needs a whole season to work his magic.
